Americans Struggling at Women's World Amateur
Oh no! Tiffany Joh has opened 74-78 and is in 38th place in the Women's World Amateur. Amanda Blumenherst came back with a 71 after an opening 79 to lead the Americans at T27, but Alison Walshe started 78-73 and is T30.
Our girls are +6 in the team competition, tied for 8th behind Mika Miyazato's Japan (+3, 5th), Dewi Claire Schreefel's Netherlands (+2, 4th), and the absolutely loaded Spanish (-7, 2nd) and Swedish (-15, 1st) teams. The Swedes have the 2 leaders--Caroline Hedwall (-8) and Anna Nordqvist (-7)--and nobody lower than 6th place, while the Spaniards are all in 11th or better individually, lead by Carlota Ciganda, who just shot a 66 to leap into 3rd place individually at 4, 2 shots ahead of Azahara Munoz (5th) and 6 up on Belen Mozo (+1).
Here's hoping America's finest turn it around down under!
