Grand China Air - 2nd Round

Karen Stupples posted her second straight 67 (-10 overall) to take the lead at the Grand China Air LPGA.  Laura Diaz is in second place at -8, two shots behind.  Louise Friberg is third at -7 while Christina Kim, Shi Hyun Ahn and Candie Kung are tied for fourth at -6.

Star-divide

Stupples overrode three bogeys by collecting eight birdies on the day.  Through 13 holes, Diaz was at -12 and riding high but she crashed down the stretch with four bogeys over the last five.  Friberg played bogey-free as she broke 70 for the second day in a row.  Ahn and Kim are making their first good runs in a while and Kung continues her solid play of late.  Eight other players are tied for seventh at -5 - Yani Tseng, Na Yeon Choi, Juli Inkster and Seon Hwa Lee to name a few.  So we go into the final round with 14 players within five shots.

The two local players I've been spotlighting, Tao-Li Yang and Hong Mei Yang, both slipped back into the field with 76 and 74 respectively.  It's safe to say I won't be improving my prognosticating numbers this weekend as none of my picks are within ten shots of the leader.  I've never had much luck predicting the Asian tournaments - maybe I need to choose more Asians?
