Asian Birdie Trains
Miho Koga (-13) rode a 6-hole birdie train to a 2-shot victory over Ai Miyazato and Yuko Mitsuka (-11) today on the JLPGA, while the KLPGA's Hee Kyung Seo (-14) birdied her last 4 holes to shoot past Sun-Ju Ahn (-12) in the joint KLPGA/LET event this week. Not too shabby! When you look down the leaderboards, you'll see that the future of the JLPGA and KLPGA is bright: a lot of young players stepping up who could compete on the LPGA if they choose. We'll see how many decide to come over in '10. Ahn, Shiho Oyama, and Miki Saiki are certainly playing well heading into Q-School in December--I'd be shocked if they don't join Ji-Yai Shin in the Class of '09. Speaking of Shin, the JLPGA has suddenly decided to count her non-member winnings in its money list, so she's now jumped to #10. Don't think they're not recruiting her to play in this year's final major the week after the ADT Championship--and to play at least a half a dozen events in Japan in '09.
