Ochoa clinches POY, Tseng still not ROY

Apologies for the lateness of this announcement but when Paula Creamer did not win the Hana Bank KOLON Championship last weekend (she finished T9), Lorena Ochoa clinched the Rolex Player of the Year award for 2008.  With three events remaining on the schedule, her 144-point lead became insurmountable.  Congrats to Lorena on her third consecutive title!

In the oft-discussed Rookie of the Year race, Yani Tseng leads Na Yeon Choi by 273 points.  Even if Yani wins Mizuno (collecting 150 points) and NYC finishes with the minimum five points in a cut-less event, Tseng would still not clinch.  That scenario would extend her lead to 418 but Choi could still catch her thanks to the double-points being offered at the ADT Championship.  Maybe next week, Yani!
