Mizuno Classic - 2nd Round

Ji-Yai Shin fired a 66 (-10 overall) to take a two-shot lead at the Mizuno Classic.  Mayu Hattori is second at -8 while Jee Young Lee and Shiho Oyama are tied for third at -7.

Star-divide

Four birdies on the back nine pushed Shin to the top of the board.  Hattori, the first round co-leader, bogeyed twice on the front but birdied 12, 14 and 15 to stay close.  Lee and Oyama both posted 68.  Erina Hara (T5 -6) made a big move forward with her bogey-free 67 as did Allison Fouch (T9 -4) with her 68.

The JLPGA is still well represented with seven players in the top 15 and eleven in the top 21.  With Lee and Jimin Kang the only LPGA players closer than six shots of the lead, the odds of a non-member winning this week are very high.  Has a single non-member ever won two events in the same season?  Shin will be shooting for that very feat on Sunday.  Hattori is gunning for her second win in as many weeks.  Lee looks to win her first event since taking the 2005 event in Korea as a non-member.
