Estimated 2009 Status List

While we wait on the LPGA's official Priority Status List, I took my best shot at building one.  This Excel spreadsheet lists everyone (to the best of my knowledge) that has earned Category 20 status or better.

estimated 2009 LPGA status list

A couple of explainers:  players listed in bold could wind up being skipped over because either they have retired (Beth Daniel in Category 2) or they have a higher spot already reserved (Brittany Lincicome in Category 11) or they used a medical extension in past years which may or may not be honored in 2009 (Nicole Perrot in Category 6).  I also listed Leah Wigger and Chella Choi as Category "11?" because I still don't understand how they were awarded 11 status.  Enjoy.

Other Medical Exempt Players?

Do You think Joo Mi Kim and Aree Song will get some status change for Medical Exempt? Joo Mi played 4 tournaments this year, and Aree Song played 2.

I’ll also add Soo Young Moon to that list, I don’t know what’s been up with her?

Good point - all three are likely medical extension cases

An extension wouldn’t help Kim this year (her 2006 win still gives her Cat-6) but it would guarantee her Cat-6 status for 2010. Song and Moon would probably be slotted at the bottom of Cat-1 since they were Top 90 qualifiers from 2007.

Moon/Johnston

I’ve seen Moon’s name a lot on KLPGA leaderboards this season on Seoul Sisters.com discussion threads.

What about Junior Mint Ashley Johnston (formerly Hoagland)? Seems she never used this season’s medical exemption, so does it automatically renew?

I see

I’m pretty sure Johnston has to reapply for an extension. I’m not aware of any bylaw that forbids back-to-back medical extensions. Obviously Moon isn’t going to get a note from her doctor if she played very many KLPGA events.
