Q-School Sectional Results

Sun-Ju Ahn led or shared the lead wire-to-wire in the first LPGA Sectional Qualifier in Mission Hills, California.  Her final round of 68 gave Ahn a four-round score of -16 to finish two shots ahead of amateur Anna Nordqvist.  Miki Saiki finished third at -12 while Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis and Shiho Oyama tied for fourth at -8.

Moon Su posted a 69 Friday to climb into the Top 30, while Tanya Dergal and Erin Houtsma carded 70s to earn their spot in the Final.  Maru Martinez didn't need a below-par round like I predicted - a 73 put her at T30.  Becky Brewerton struggled to a 78 which knocked her out, while Kristina Tucker, Kelly Lagedrost and Caryn Wilson were among a group of ten who came up only one shot short.

The second Sectional Qualifyer will held September 30-October 3 in Venice, Florida.  The players who missed out in Mission Hills are eligible to try again to make the Top 30 and earn a spot in the Final.

I thought that was an awesome joke at first!

But, no, no relation to Ai-chan! Here’s more on Mika-chan and other young Japanese amateurs and pros to watch if you’re interested….
