Betty Jameson passes away
One of the founding members of the LPGA Tour, Betty Jameson died yesterday at the age of 89.
A 14-time winner as an amateur during the late '30s and World War II, Jameson turned pro in 1945 and won the '47 U.S. Women's Open with a score of 295, the first ever four-round sub-300 score in women's golf. One of the 13 founders of the LPGA, Betty won 13 times on the Tour which did not earn her a place among my All Time Top 50. But without her, we wouldn't have an LPGA Tour today.
Rest in peace, Betty Jameson.
