ok, here's where some things get clearer for me

HD, to win a tournament you have to put together 2 great, or 3 or 4 good or very good rounds. As Hurst shows, anyone who’s been at a top level (she was a million-dollar winner in ‘06) is capable of doing that any given week—and as your fluke list shows, some other players have done it, too. But to me, that’s not really the definition of being “hot.” It could just be a blip. I’d like to see good performances over at least 2 or 3 events in a row before someone could make it into the top 10 of a hot list. That’s why Hurst doesn’t appear on my list at all:

I understand your point

but look at it from this angle. Winning a tournament is a big deal, and I award 50 points to a player for doing it. Since that win just occurred, Hurst for the moment gets the maximum effect for that victory. Now if she does absolutely nothing over the next few events, she’ll slide off the chart and we’ll know it was fluky. But what if she finishes Top 10 at Phoenix and the KNC? Does that now mean that the win “mattered” more in this context than if Pat missed several cuts? Should I award more points for the victory if it’s surrounded by other good finishes? My answer to both questions is “no”. I already know half of the story here – that Pat was “not hot” before MasterCard – so that’s why she’s only #3 and not #1.

I intuitively know that the only reason Hurst is so high on this list is because of her MasterCard win – that’s why she’s not on my Top 12/Pakpicker list this week.
