J Golf Phoenix - Epilogue
Yesterday's win was Karrie Webb's first since she won the Mizuno Classic in November 2006. That stretch of 44 starts without a victory was the longest winless streak of her career, surpassing a streak of 38 straight from June 2004 (Kellogg-Keebler) to April 2006 (Kraft Nabisco).
Last week Pat Hurst, this week Karrie Webb. Which multi-win player currently mired in a long winless streak will break through next? Something tells me it'll be Suzann Pettersen, though I won't say that's going to happen this week.
In-Kyung Kim's double-bogey at 10 was due to her tee shot finding the water. Correction: Actually it was her third shot which found the hazard. Her double at 12 on Saturday came after she was blocked by a tree on her second shot and an uncharacteristic three-putt. Still, third place is a great finish for Inky to build on.
The Constructivist points out that we still haven't had a leader going into the final round hold on to win yet this season.
Na On Min finished tied for eleventh place, her best since a T11 at the 2007 British Open. For that, Na On wins this week's Big Surprise Award. The Big Disappointment goes to Seon Hwa Lee, who missed the cut by four shots.
