Samsung Moves To Torrey Pines

The 2009 Samsung World Championship will be played on Torrey Pines' famed South Course in September, the LPGA announced today.  The press release does not mention whether this is a one-time deal or a multi-year agreement, so I would assume the former.

First St. Andrews, now Torrey Pines, what's next?  Oakmont?  Augusta National?  I'm getting giddy at the thought of it all...

UPDATE:  Ryan at Waggle Room pointed out that Oakmont is the site for next year's U.S. Women's Open.  Don't know how I missed that one.  Maybe my Augusta dream isn't so crazy after all.

There’s an option to re-up for 2010:

Hopefully Samsung will decide to keep sponsoring the event.

Oakmont

It’s also not the first time the women will play Oakmont — Patty Sheehan outlasted Juli Inkster in an 18 hole playoff in 1992.
