Sybase Classic - 1st Round
Helen Alfredsson fired a 62, a tournament record as well as her career best, to take a two-shot lead at the Sybase Classic Presented by ShopRite. Brittany Lincicome put up a 64 to end the day in second place. Suzann Pettersen's 65 has her in third while Ji Young Oh is fourth after her round of 66.
Alfredsson went out on the back nine in 30, despite a bogey at 15. An eagle and three birdies put Helen at -5 through five holes. She followed the bogey with two more birdies, then racked up four more over her final nine holes to register the lowest round on Tour this season. Lincicome didn't bogey at all, birdied six times and capped her day with an eagle at 18. Pettersen matched Alfredsson's opening 30 (although Suzann's came on UMCC's front nine) with six birdies and tacked on three more over the back nine although bogeys at 10 and 15 set her back a tad. Oh may have had the best stretch of all. She was even par after a bogey at 1 (her 10th) and proceeded to play her last eight holes in -6. Her hole-out eagle at 2 and hole-in-one at 8 propelled Ji Young into the top four.

I didn't list her above, but what's going on with Laura Diaz? She shot 78 today, setting up her fourth missed cut in five events. Laura hasn't yet registered a Top 25 finish in 2009 so she endangering her chances to make the Solheim team, where she currently stands #9 in points. One of the players chasing her in the points race is Stacy Prammanasudh, who is having her own troubles. Stacy posted 75 today and is in danger of missing her fourth straight cut.
