Michelob Ultra Open - 1st Round

Lorena Ochoa fired a 64 and leads by one shot at the Michelob Ultra Open.  Lindsey Wright is in second place while Hee-Won Han, Sarah Lee and Minea Blomqvist are tied for third, two shots behind.

A bogey at 16 was all that separated Ochoa from the course record.  She followed that bobble with back-to-back birdies on a couple of tough finishing holes.  Wright took no bogeys on the day while collecting three birdies on each nine.  All five of Blomqvist's birdies came on the back nine - three of them in her last four holes.  Han bogeyed once en route to her best score since posting 66 last August at the Safeway Classic.  The last time Sarah Lee went this low was nearly two years ago at the '07 Sybase.  The other notable scores:

75  Helen Alfredsson, Mi Hyun Kim, Karen Stupples, Lisa Strom, Michelle McGann

76  Angela Park

78  Christina Kim

There were several surprise rounds in the 60s, posted by Tour rookies Amy Yang, Chella Choi and Shiho Oyama along with veterans Kris Tamulis, Diana D'Alessio and Il Mi Chung.  I'm not sure what happened to Karrie Webb, Angela Park and Christina Kim today.  Christina's thoughts on her round, via Twitter:

Omg what a day. I am utterly distraught, my round was.... Blech, hard to discuss right now, I'm so despondent, dejected, and discouraged!!!

Jane Park was -3 through 12 holes but she bogeyed her last two to finish with even par 71.  Ever wonder what a player is thinking after a finish like that?

kinda pissed about my round today. but oh well, sh-t happens.
