Lorena Ochoa Invitational - 3rd Round
Suzann Pettersen leads by one shot going into the final round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Four players - Ai Miyazato, In-Kyung Kim, Stacy Lewis and Karine Icher - are tied for second at -11 while Paula Creamer is alone in sixth place at -10, two shots behind.
Pettersen went out in 32 and when she birdied 10 to go -14, her lead was three over Creamer. After collecting five birdies over her first ten holes, Pettersen suddenly stopped finding them. She settled for pars at 11 through 14 and played the last four bogey-par-bogey-par to let a whole of players back into the hunt. Creamer had eagled the 10th to reach -11 and she birdied 11 to draw within two. Bogeys at 13 and 15 sent Paula backwards.
While the front-runners were coming back to the field, nobody in particular was coming on strong either. 68 was the best anyone could manage, but that was enough to put Miyazato, Kim and Icher into second place. Both Ai and Inky took late bogeys (at 16 and 17 respectively) but each compensated with a birdie or three on the back nine. Icher was solid down the stretch and birdied 16 and 18 for the day's best finish although Lewis' birdie at the tough 17th was impressive too.
With the likes of Karrie Webb, Amy Yang, Azahara Munoz and Meena Lee lurking only three shots behind and a total of 15 players within six of the lead (over half of the field is within seven!), today's final round should be a doozy.
