LPGA Tour Championship - Update

The second round was completed about 9:15am and as expected, the 70-and-ties cut was +8.  Notables now done for the season are Laura Davies (84 Friday after opening with 70), Rookie of the Year Azahara Munoz, Vicky Hurst and Karen Stupples.  The on-the-number survivors (and this week, that label is especially accurate) include Ai Miyazato, Jiyai Shin, Paula Creamer, defending champion Anna Nordqvist and Stacy Lewis.  They will have to play exceptionally well today if they plan on making the additional third-round cut (top 30 plus ties).

Here are the bubble players in each money list race who made the cut (oops, missed one):

Top 80

Mina Harigae, Moira Dunn, Jane Park, Becky Morgan, Mi Hyun Kim, Mariajo Uribe, Louise Stahle, Laura Diaz, Leta Lindley

Top 100

Louise Friberg, Sarah Lee, Silvia Cavalleri, Julieta Granada, Pernilla Lindberg, Stephanie Louden, Taylor Leon, Ilhee Lee, Mhairi McKay, Allison Fouch, Lisa Meldrum

Top 125

Aree Song, Hye Jung Choi, Tania Elosegui

#123 Aree Song (and everyone above her) has clinched a spot in the Top 125 because only two players behind could possibly pass her.  That wouldn't have been the case had Jin Young Pak not bogeyed 15, 16 and 18 this morning to fall to +10.  Hye Jung Choi is at +8 and will have to move up some to make it to 125.  Tania Elosegui is at +3 T25 - if she maintains that position, Tania should be golden.  #124 Jimin Jeong and #125 Beth Bader can only hope Choi and Elosegui falter.

Mhairi McKay made it on the nose; check out her card - eleven straight holes without a par (six of them bogeys) to finish her round!  Somebody get that girl a Dramamine!  #99 Allison Hanna is in deep trouble - she missed the cut, Silvia Cavalleri is going to pass her and Julieta Granada is in third place.  #78 Irene Cho will also be sweating it out the next two days.  Mina Harigae is definitely going past her, Moira Dunn is probably too and with #81-83 Jane Park, Becky Morgan and Mi Hyun Kim all playing through, Irene's chances are very dicey.
