Vote For The Final "Mojo 6" Player

Thanks to The Constructivist (who piggy-backed Steve Elling - sorry for the disturbing image there) for informing us that the Mojo 6 website is conducting a fan vote to determine the 16th and final player in its field.  The Mojo 6 will be played in Jamaica this April, using a unique "Raceway" format to determine the champion of their unofficial LPGA event.

My choice?  Vicky Hurst.  Check out the other 11 candidates here and vote for your fave.

Mojo 6 Preview

The Mojo 6 website has 13 names with the addition of Amanda Blumenherst and Yani Tseng.

If you’re going to Jamaica and need first day tournament fodder mixed with beaches and bikini potential – you have to add Anna Rawson and Natalie Gulbis.

I’m surprised Brittany Lincicome isn’t in the field since she hit THE clutch shot of 2009 at the Kraft Nabisco – and exciting match play requires either an irratic opponent or the willingness to take chances.

"16 TOP LPGA Pros" this is a joke - right ?

AMY ALCOTT ???? Laura Davies….shaky but ok. Who the heck are Lindsey Wright and Beatriz Recari ? Maria Skarpnord ? be serious.

Ok – Recari and Sandra Gal get huge points as potential bikini babes in Jamaica – but Recari is an LPGA rookie.

I’m a big Vicky Hurst fan – but this appears to be a first round fodder contest – I have to go with Sandra Gal

think of it as an All Star Game

Alcott is a Hall Of Famer – while I didn’t vote for her, what’s wrong with giving her a shot at this exhibition? Davies – same thing. Wright is a Top 30 player (despite your never having heard of her – you could read my blog more often to fix things like that). The others are rookies/near rookies who are merely available to play. Don’t forget that some players who might have been more qualified for that “16 Top Pros” category will probably be playing in Japan in April.

It’s just that “TOP” thing that bothers me – especially with an amateur in the field. Alcott USED to be a top player – but hasn’t been in quite some time. Davies would be fun because she loves match play and loves taking chances – something most women don’t do.

Ok – 7 of the top 10 on last year’s money list are in the field. Miyazato will be playing at home – Ochoa isn’t on the list, but come on – she’s not going to Japan unless there is a boatload of cash under the table – and In Kyung Kim is on the voter list. Nordqvist and McPherson are 15 and 16 on that list.

I know I know – I’m picking nits – but rookies shouldn’t be in the field, and neither should an amateur. That only makes the other 15 happy because the money goes up.

we agree on the amateur

Doesn’t belong at all. Maybe if she was the reigning U.S. Amateur champ.

Still wouldn’t belong – read the front page again – 16 Top LPGA Players. That counts out Alcott and Davies and definitely any non-LPGA players.

This is a 2 day event with $1 million in the purse. Beats playing a full field event in Japan for half the purse and 9 times the field plus a cut. And it’s JAMAICA, Mon ! :-)

Vicky Hurst Definitely

My vote is for Vicky Hurst. She’s the long hitter and the young gun that will make this tournament interesting.

I agree that if they claim they have the top players then they should pick the top from the Rolex money rankings. But they are looking for tv rating to promote the LPGA. In which case, Vicky all the way.

I voted for Lindsey Wright because she’s one of my favorites and because somehow she asked for my vote through some form letter email I received.

Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
