Malaysia - Not China?
The Constructivist unearthed this link to Asian Golf Daily (you'll have to click on the LPGA headline halfway down the page to read the article), which is reporting an LPGA event in Kuala Lumpur on October 22-24 - the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.
It will be the first tournament in a three-week Asian swing for the LPGA Tour. It will be followed by the US$1.8 million Hana Bank Championship in Seoul (October 29-31) and the US$1.2 million Mizuno Classic in Japan (November 5-7).
If true, it means this is a straight-up swap of China for Malaysia because there is no gap left in the fall schedule for China - the season will finish with eight straight events from September 30 to November 21. It would also mean that we have 25 locked-in events on the 2010 schedule. I would expect LPGA confirmation of this news within the next day or two.

Mixed blessing
Locking down a tournament is good, and getting into an additional market is better – BUT the LPGA really needs to get established in China asap. The LET has this year added a second stop in China and in 20 years (possibly sooner) China is going to be the world’s biggest market for pro sports after the US. If Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia can each support an LPGA tournament then China must be able to do so. I really hope that China is being given it’s proper attention at the top of the women’s tour.
My opinion
The LPGA will get established in China. It might not be the time yet and that’s why the China LPGA tournament is being shelved again.
Kuala Lumpar then China. Can India, Abu Dhabi, and Manila be far away?
