Evian Masters - 2nd Round

Mika Miyazato has taken a one-shot lead through two rounds of the Evian Masters.  Gwladys Nocera, LET veteran and LPGA rookie, is in second place at -8, Jeong Jang is third at -7 while Na Yeon Choi, Morgan Pressel, M.J. Hur and Meena Lee are tied for fourth at -6.

Mika (who I'm sure the GC folks will remind us tonight is no relation to Ai) birdied six times for the second straight day but reduced her bogey count from two to one as she's posted 68-67.  Oddly enough, she's bogeyed the par-4 4th both days.  A birdie at 18 moved her to -9 and into the lead.  Nocera also carded a 67 with an eagle at the par-5 9th.  A bogey at 18 cost Gwladys a share of the overnight lead.  Jang also eagled 9 and birdied twice, including one at 18 to move into solo third.  First-round co-leader Pressel bogeyed four times - three on the back - to post 72.  Her co-leaders fared worse - Sun Ju Ahn took double at the par-5 7th en route to a 73 while Melissa Reid bottomed out with a 77.  A triple at 5 led to a front-nine 42.

Conditions seemed to be much more difficult today as only eight players broke 70 after 25 did on Thursday.  Play was suspended for a short time due to thunderstorms but everyone finished their rounds by 8:45 local time.  The cut rose to +3 and 79 players get to continue, including Sophie Gustafson, Kristy McPherson, Natalie Gulbis and Mariajo Uribe.  The 32 players missing out include Hee Young Park, Brittany Lang, Stacy Lewis, Jee Young Lee and Katherine Hull.  More to come after the TV coverage....

What the heck did Wie do to herself at 10 ? I didn’t see any of the internet feed today. I’m guessing wild right off the tee down into the junk and trees and a miserable time trying to get back out to the green ?
