Top 70 - April 2011

I figured the best way to get back into the blogging swing would be to present my first Top 70 list of the year.  25% of the ranking is based on the five events played so far while 75% is based on last year's performance.  The number in the third column is that player's final 2010 ranking.  Rookies are in bold and non-members are in italics.  Notes follow the jump.

Star-divide

Yani Tseng has gone from barely being #1 back in December to a no-doubter, thanks to her win in Thailand.  Cristie Kerr's missed cut at the Kraft Nabisco (breaking a streak of 90 dating back to May 2007) doesn't prevent her from maintaining her position.

The big mover-uppers are Karrie Webb (back in the Top 10 for the first time since Sept 2009), Stacy Lewis, Juli Inkster, Maria Hjorth, Catriona Matthew, Katie Futcher, Sandra Gal and Mindy Kim.  The downers are Song-Hee Kim, Inbee Park, Katherine Hull, Jee Young Lee and Na On Min.  I subjectively dropped Lexi Thompson a couple of spots since she hasn't made a single start.  Having said that, I'm not sure I would drop her outside the Top 30 unless she misses a couple of cuts first.

Based purely on 2011 numbers, the Top 10 would have been Tseng, Webb, Lewis, IK Kim, Gal, Wie, Kerr, Pressel, Creamer and NY Choi.  Using the same method for the others who finished in the 2010 Top 10 - Shin would have been #12, Pettersen #13, Ai Miyazato #29, Song-Hee Kim #33 and Inbee Park #45.
